Joseph Patrick Huber

November 9, 1945 — January 13, 2018

Joseph Patrick Huber, 72, of Plantation, Florida, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 13, 2018 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his beloved wife Joan, daughter Marissa (Mike), grandson Henry, and siblings Annemarie (Steve), Paul (Pam), Marty, nephews, nieces, cousins and lifelong friends. He is pre-deceased by his son Andrew Patrick (2005), parents Edwin and Anne Huber, and brother Jake.  Joe was born and raised in Atlantic City, NJ where he took pride in saying that he started his professional career selling newspapers on the boardwalk at an early age. After attending Villanova University for two years, he enlisted in the US Army and completed Officer Candidate School in Fort Benning, GA. He served from 1965 - 1969 including two tours in Vietnam and Arlington, VA with Army Intelligence. After leaving active duty, he earned a B.A. in Economics at The Ohio State University where he met his wife Joan, which he said was the best thing that ever happened to him. They were married August 25, 1971 in Columbus, OH. They moved to NJ where he pursued an MBA at Rutgers University and enjoyed reconnecting with his family, especially his younger siblings. He began his 39 year long career in the Financial Industry at First National City Bank (Citibank) in Manhattan. In 1977, he joined Southeast Bank in Miami, FL and reinvented himself many times as the banks changed to First Union, Wachovia, and later Wells Fargo. He was proud of his work, especially his lifelong relationships with his clients, both domestic and international. After he retired in 2012 he started a blog (www.thetruthoncommonsense.com), and wrote 1,279 articles sharing his strong views on Politics, Education, Foreign Affairs, Civil Rights and a wide range of other topics.  What Joe loved most was being a Husband, Dad, and “Grumpa”. He enjoyed annual summer trips to spend time on the Jersey Shore with family, and exploring new cities across the country from The Air and Space Museum in D.C. to Mount Rainier in Seattle. He was an involved Dad who encouraged his children in all of their pursuits. Joe especially enjoyed being a Grumpa to his grandson Henry, whom he loved seeing every day. He will be missed tremendously and remembered for his unique sense of “Huber”, generosity, independent and outspoken nature, and deep love for those he cared about.  A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Jan. 20th, 10:30AM at TM Ralph Funeral Home, 7001 NW 4th Street, Plantation, FL 33317.  In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate donations to the “Andrew P. Huber Memorial Scholarship Fund’. Checks payable to Broward Education Foundation. Mail to Broward Education Foundation ATTN: Andrew P. Huber Memorial Scholarship Fund. 600 SE 3rd Ave -1st Floor, Ft.
