Carole A. Dunn

Carole A. Dunn, 76, of Melbourne, FL passed away on Saturday, January 18th, 2014, while in hospice care in Palm Bay, FL., after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born to the late Irving and Ethel Fournier of Boston, MA. She married Daniel J. Dunn, Sr. in 1959, and they resided in South Florida, until relocating to Melbourne, FL in 2008. Carole attended the Miami-Dade Police Academy in 1965, and was one of the first of seven women for the City of Miami Police Department. She was also one of first women who were finally classified as a sworn police officer, not "police women." She retired from the force at the rank of Sergeant in 1990 after 25 years of service. The family will gather Friday, January 31, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 PM at T. M. Ralph Funeral Home Sawgrass/Weston 371 NW 136 Ave Sunrise, FL 33325. The family suggests donations can be made to an animal charity of your choice. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Daniel J Dunn, Sr., also a retired Sergeant from the City of Miami, and their four children, Donna Williams of Melbourne, FL, Edward DeBrocky of Anchorage, AK, Karen Watkins of Williamsburg, VA, and Daniel J.
