Nellie Jean Eckhardt

Eckhardt, Nellie Jean passed away April 21, 2014. She came to Plantation in 1957. She family originally immigrated to the Unites States from Denmark, first settling in the Chicago area.   For many years she worked as a cafeteria worker at numerous schools including Plantation Park, Peters Elementary, and Paul Turner Elementary. While raising her family, she returned to school and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked at Doctors General, and Bennett Community Hospital, now known as Westside Regional Hospital. She is survived by her children Christopher Eckhardt, and Karen Womeldorf, her sisters Madeline and Nancy, daughter in laws Jana and Lucy, son in law Greg and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Bill. In her memory the family suggests donations to Vitas Hospice Community Connection 5420 NW 33 Avenue Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309.
