Brad Eric Metcalf

January 11, 1975 — May 17, 2014

Brad Metcalf, 39, passed away on May 17, from autoimmune anemia. He is survived by his parents, Roger and Kathy; brother Mark, all of Plantation; brother Todd (Wendy) of Atlanta, GA; grandmother Edith Bosely of Hendersonville, NC; Aunts Judy (Russ) King of Hiawassee, GA, Debra Lawing of Ashville, NC, and Pamela (Paul) Lance of Naples, Fl; nine cousins and 12 second cousins. He graduated from Plantation High School in 1993 and from Broward College as an R.N. His first nursing job was at “Duke University Medical Trauma Center” in North Carolina; followed by two and half years as a traveling nurse. He moved to Atlanta while he worked in telemetry at a local hospital and then for “Acreedo Therapeutics” doing IV infusion. Brad was a caring compassionate nurse. Many of his patients and supervisors wrote letters of thanks and praise for his excellent patient care. He was an extreme Florida sports fan cheering on the Dolphins, Marlins and Heat. As a youth, he played P.A.L. T-ball, softball, baseball, and football. In high school, he played football for both offensive and defensive team. Brads favorite pastimes were outdoor sports, traveling and volunteering. He was a nature and animal lover. The love of his life and constant companion was his black Lab “Roo” who misses him dearly. Brad was a loyal and trusted friend to many who are scattered across the country. Those who loved him could always count on him to be there for support when needed. He was a loving, kind and gentle son, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed and has left a hole in our hearts that will never be filled. Brad was a person of faith and believed in life beyond death. He has found his peace now that passes all understanding. His mother asked him to send her a sign to show he was with his loved ones that passed before him. Two days later there was a picture of an upside down rainbow on television described as a smile in heaven. “He had sent us his sign!” “For I know the plans I have for you”, says the Lord. Jeremiah 29:11A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 24, 2014, 11:00AM at Plantation United Methodist Church. The family invites you to a reception following the funeral service in the fellowship hall. Donations in his memory can be made to: Plantation United Methodist Church, 1001 NW 70 Avenue Plantation, FL 33317 (954) 584-7500.
