Cory Lynn Burtscher, 33, was taken from us much too soon. She was born on August 18, 1981 in Plantation, Florida and passed away on October 22, 2014 at Plantation General Hospital.
She lived in Sunrise, Florida for most of her life. She attended Village Elementary School, St. Helen’s Catholic School, St. Thomas Aquinas High School and graduated from Plantation High School.
She was a Brownie and Girl Scout in elementary school. She enjoyed participating in Cailini at St. Thomas High School.
She served briefly in the United States Army. She was scheduled to fly to basic training camp in South Carolina on the morning of September 11, 2001, but due to the terrorist attacks and the airports being shut down, the start of her basic training was delayed for several days.
Some of her favorite childhood times were summers spent with her Grandma Bachmayer in Ohio and times spent on Duck Key with her Nana and Grandpa Joe.
Cory loved hanging out at the beach and had numerous jobs serving on the beach. She was generous, kind-hearted, fun-loving, and enjoyed people. She loved animals and always wanted to help any strays that she found.
She was a registered organ donor and the family has already been notified that she will be helping others through her donation.
Her son, Jacob, was the pride and joy of her life. She loved taking him to the beach and parks.
Cory is survived by her seven year old son, Jacob Burtscher, her twin sister, Kristen Burtscher, her younger sister, Danielle Burtscher, her older brother, Brian Burtscher and his fiance, Chasity Sears, and her mother and father, Janet and Richard Burtscher. Also surviving are her aunts and uncles, John and Diane Pawelczak, Mike and Marie Burtscher, Bob and Joella Burtscher, Sam and Pat Lee, Ray and Jackie Denig, and more than forty cousins. She is pre-deceased by her maternal grandparents, John and Eleanor Bachmayer, and her paternal grandparents, Joseph and Eldora Burtscher.
Her family and friends will miss her greatly.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2:30 – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at T.M. Ralph Funeral Home in Plantation with a Catholic Memorial Service following at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any donations to be made to a fund that has been set up for Jacob Burtscher’s education.
