Andrew Paul Lokie, 82, of Weston, Florida died Monday. Andy was born in Pittsburg, PA to the late Andrew and Mary Lokie. He grew up in Canton, Ohio with his three siblings George, Mike, and Marilyn, and attained the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. Andy and his wife Jo met in college at Kent State University. Following graduation Andy was commissioned into the United States Army and served his county proudly for twenty-eight years. After retirement from the Army, Andy and Jo moved from their long time home in Springfield, Virginia to warmer climates ultimately settling in Weston, Florida. Although he battled a rare and extreme form of vasculitis his entire adult life, he enjoyed coaching, fishing, and other outdoor activities. A loving grandfather, he taught all of his grandchildren to fish and play pinochle.
Survived by his wife of 58 years, Josephine; six children, Andrew, Marie, Josephine, Paul, Christine, and Kathleen; twenty grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received Monday, January 19th, from 5:00 to 8:00 at the T.M. Ralph Funeral Home at 371 NW 136th Avenue, Sunrise, Florida. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at St Bonaventure Catholic Church in Davie, Florida. Internment will be at the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Andy’s name may be made to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
