Gerrilyn A, Sprague-Damon

In  Loving Memory of Gerrilyn A. Sprague-Damon Sprague-Damon, Gerrilynn A.,  passed away February 25, 2015.  Born in Poughkeepsie, NY to Gerard Sprague and Dorothy Hasbrouck Sprague.  She spent her professional life as a social worker.  She graduated with her Masters degree in Social Work from Barry University.  She had served as Director of Social Work at North Shore Medical Center, and Miami Jewish Home.  She was always championing for her patients, being the consummate social worker.  She always tried to make the lives of strangers better, advocating for the disadvantaged.  She went on to found Social Work Advantage, Inc.; a healthcare proxy service.   Even more important than her work, was her boys; whom she loved and was so proud of.  Elliott currently services with the US Navy, and Jeremy is a Registered Nurse. In addition to her sons Gerri’s father Gerard survives her.  She was very involved with community issues in her neighborhood or city. She would rally her neighbors to get the local council or association to do that was right and not what was easy.  She could walk in a room full of strangers and walk out knowing everyone along with their stories. Her goal was always to connect people and get things done.  She had a great sense of humor, and would tell her stories that would leave you rolling on the floor.  She had no qualms making fun of herself.   She was an avid reader, and loved her dogs, Molly and Bailey.  Her family will receive friends on  Saturday April 11 from 1:00pm until the service time at the T.M. Ralph Funeral Home 371 NW 136 Avenue Sunrise, Florida 33325. A service will be led to remember her life at 2:00pm, with Rev. Ray Wehrenberg officiating. Following the services, a reception will be held, where the family will continue to visit with friends. Details will be provided at the conclusion of the funeral.In her memory, and because she devoted her life to helping others, memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity in her name.  Cremation arrangements by T.M.
