JoAnn C Behm, 80, of Plantation, FL (originally Cleveland, OH) passed away and became our angel on Monday, June 1st, 2015. Anyone who came in contact with JoAnn knew she was a lady full of love, determination, and a bit of sarcasm. After she was diagnosed with rheumatic fever and spent months in the hospital at the age of 9, she made it her life goal to become a nurse. She proudly proclaimed that she was a practicing nurse for 52 years. She was a true and loyal friend to many. She enjoyed going to her high school reunions and catching up with her nursing school friends. JoAnn remembered everyone’s name and made sure everyone knew hers. Above all else, she loved her family. At an early age, she lost both her father, Joseph, and her mother, Ann. As newlyweds, she and her husband, Thomas, raised her brothers, Michael and Daniel, and her sister, MaryPat as their own. JoAnn learned how to have a strong but gentle demeanor with her five children: Tommy, Jimmy, Timmy, Joey, and Therese. They were and always will be her pride and joy. She was their protector, nurse, and friend. Her daughter-in-laws, Molly and Amy, passed the test of approval to marry her Timmy and Tommy. When it came to her grandchildren, they knew how to pull on her heartstrings, give her a little sass, and make her smile shine the brightest. Matthew, Emily, Megan, Bridget, Katie, Vinny, and Annie meant the world to her. She made sure that her presence was in their lives even in the smallest ways. After she retired from her beloved nursing career in Cleveland, she took up another hobby and became known as Plantation’s fastpitch softball grandma. She made sure she was the most valuable fan, coach, umpire, and MVP at every game. All the families adopted her and expected “Grandma B” at every game. She lived for those moments and was glad to share in everyone’s success. Even in her last days, she fought to the end. Her body might have passed but her legacy will live on forever.
