Ella Minter peacefully passed away at Covenant Village Retirement Community on May 30, 2015. Her husband, William D. Minter, preceded her in death in 1984. Those left to cherish her memory include daughter Suzanne C. Hansen of St. Paul, Minnesota, son David D. Minter and wife Christine of Littleton, Colorado. Ella is also survived by two grandsons, David Hansen of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Jeffrey Minter of Littleton, Colorado. Born on September 14th, 1918 to James W. Pollard and Lucy Turrentine Pollard, Ella was a resident of Florida most of her life, although she fondly considered her birthplace of Durham, NC, as home. Ella was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church of Ft. Lauderdale, where she first attended in 1957. She taught Sunday School, was a Circle Chairman, and served as a Deacon twice. She loved volunteering at the church's "Pink House" thrift store, and was an original volunteer and Board member of the "Adult Activities Center," providing meals and programs for the elderly over 19 years. To all who had the privilege of knowing her, Ella was a Southern lady, genteel and gracious. She liked to entertain, golf and enjoyed her role as a mother and homemaker. She loved to laugh, and passed her sense of humor along. Above all, Ella was faithful to God and her family, always an inspiration in kindness and caring. The family is deeply appreciative for the dedicated and loving care Ella received for nine years at Covenant Village Retirement Community. The Minters will receive family and friends from 10am - 11am at the First Presbyterian Church, Watts Chapel, 401 SE 15th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale on June 30th, followed by a service at 11am in Watts Chapel. She will be inurned at Ft. Lauderdale Memorial Park, 2001 SW 4th Avenue, Ft. Lauderdale. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Humane Society of Broward County in her memory.
