John "Jack" C. Schappert Jr.

John “Jack” Conrad Schappert Jr., 73, of Cooper City, Florida, passed away, Sunday, August 9th, 2015 at his home. A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 12th at T.M. Ralph Funeral Home located at 371 N.W. 136th Avenue, Sunrise, FL 33325. Jack was born May 16th, 1942 in New York City, New York to John and Mary Margaret (Hahn) Schappert. His family moved to Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania where Jack spent his childhood. His family moved again to Miami, Florida in 1957 when Jack was 15 years old. He graduated from North Miami High School in 1961. After High School, Jack joined the United States Air Force. He spent two years in Viet Nam from 1965 to 1966 and was honorably discharged. He spent 30 years in the Water, Sewer and Plumbing supply business as well as 20 years at Publix Supermarkets as Seafood Manager. Jack retired from Publix in January 2015. Jack was a hardworking, jovial individual that enjoyed spending time with his family and dogs, fishing, collecting Lionel trains, and working on his cars and projects around the house. He was a very active, happy, go-lucky person who enjoyed and made the most of every day of his life. He had many friends and made everyone’s life that he touched brighter. He is loved and missed by all and is now home with his father and mother. Jack is survived by his life partner, Helen Webb, two sons, Jeffrey J. Schappert and his wife Cindy of Crofton, Maryland, John C. Schappert III and his wife Kelly of Coral Gables, FL; sisters Mary Gertrude (Schappert) Raduazzo and her husband Richard Raduazzo of Pembroke Pines, Florida, and Peggy (Schappert) Katz and her husband Harvey Katz of Greer, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Brady Schappert, Sarah Schappert, John Ryan Schappert and Cody Schappert, many nieces and nephews and his dog Teddy. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Margaret (Hahn) Schappert. The family will receive friends Wednesday, 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM at the funeral home.
