Phillip Paul Garofalo Jr.

Phillip Paul Garofalo Jr., of Plantation, Florida, went to be with the Lord, our Savior, on September 18, 2015. Originally from Scranton, Pennsylvania, Phillip served in the United States Air Force for 4 years. He joined the Air Force to travel the world, and went all the way to Salina, Kansas where he found the fair skin beauty that had appeared to him in his dreams, Martha Jean Batten. They moved to Plantation, Florida in 1960. He was an active member of Calvary Presbyterian Church in Ft. Lauderdale for 25 years, serving as both a deacon and an elder, and later as Vice President of Calvary Foundation, Inc. He then joined Rio Vista Community Church in 1991. He proudly served as an elder, a representative on the Bethany Christian School Board, the Mission Committee and various other committees within the South FL Presbytery, PCA. He served on the board of Revelation Ministries, performing both locally and abroad in a ministry that was dear to his heart.He was the co-owner of Emile Philip Beauty Salon in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and continued to work in the area until 2012 doing what he loved… making women feel beautiful. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Martha Garofalo, and his children: Teresa Dobbins (Tim), Todd Garofalo (Mary), Susie Morris (Joe); grandchildren, Nick Garofalo, Sarah Foster (Lee), Christy Garofalo, Victoria "Tori" Franklin, Joey Franklin, Mikey Garofalo; brother, Dr. Robert Garofalo (Ann); sister-in-law, Glendine Lipford(Dan) and brother-in-law, James Batten (Winona). He was extremely proud of his Italian heritage and leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles and cousins, along with many life long friends to cherish his memory. Our lives were touched by this bigger than life, jovial storyteller who will always be remembered for his funny stories, uplifting spirit, love of family, and most importantly, his unwavering faith in God.
