Bette L. Lockard

April 30, 1932 — September 21, 2015

Bette L. Lockard passed away September 21, 2015 surrounded by the love of her two daughters. She was born in Northumberland County, PA to George and Carrie Duttinger. Bette was raised and attended school in Sunbury, PA. She was the oldest of 8 children. She married Fred Lockard, the love of her life at age 20. At age 21 they had their first daughter, Cindy and at age 24 they had their second daughter, Sharon. At age 28 the family moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Bette loved the sun and the beach. She was a very devout Christian who loved the Lord and lived her life in a loving Christian way. As the children grew older she worked for the ministry at her church and enjoyed that very much. Once the children were grown she continued her education and obtained employment at Broward Community College as an assistant to the Director of Purchasing. Wherever she went she touched peoples lives in a kind and loving way. She had such a kind and loving spirit that people gravitated to her everywhere she went. This resulted in many long lasting friendships over the years. In her later life she and her husband, Fred looked forward to their daily breakfast at The Plantation Diner where they both met many wonderful people, many of which became great friends. She was the most wonderful Mother to her children, a wonderful and devoted wife to her husband Fred of 60 years. She was loved and adored by her 5 grandchildren. Words cannot express how much she will be missed by all but we know she is happy being with The Lord and being re-united with her husband and other family members who have preceded her and have welcomed her to Heaven. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred of 60 years and 3 brothers, Kenneth, David & James Duttinger.  She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Nickerson, Cindy Lockard, her son in law Richard, 5 grandchildren, Sean Nickerson, Theresa Berends, Melissa(Eric)Austin, Cynthia McClarigan and Laura McClarigan and 10 great grandchildren, siblings Lois Sutter, Daniel(Lois)Duttinger, Marlene Lyons, Jeanette Swope.
