Louise Ann Mimbs, 67,of Sunrise, Florida died peacefully at her home after a long illness on November 20th, 2015. Louise was born in Buffalo, New York and came to Hialeah as an infant with her parents. She was a 1966 Graduate of Hialeah High School and a 1970 graduate of Florida Atlantic University. At FAU, she received her degree in elementary education; however, she worked briefly as a reservation agent for Eastern Airlines. After her marriage in 1973, she and her husband, Cory, made their home in Sunrise. Louise spent 26 years as an educator for Broward County Public Schools. For the majority of her career she was a substitute teacher at Tequesta Trace Middle School in Weston. Once she was asked why she preferred substitute teaching rather than being a full-time teacher; she responded that as a sub, she knew every student in the school, and they knew her. Some referred to Louise as "Super Sub," a title she relished. She was a loving mother and wife, and her passion was children. She was a stay-at-home mom before her son started school and was known in the neighborhood as the "Kool Aid Kid Mom," a popular term at the time. During the course of her illness, she kept in touch with friends and former colleagues through Facebook. She loved her family and friends and was passionate about life. Her affability was evident as she always lit up a room when she entered. She was predeceased by her father, Louis J. Matuson and is survived by her husband of 42 years, Cory; her son, Christopher, of Tamarac; her mother, Mary Matuson, of Plantation; her brother Michael Matuson ( Valerie); her brother Gerald Matuson (Elsa) both of Cartersville, GA.
