Elizabeth Janosky, of Sunrise, Florida passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, December 26th, 2015, weeks before her 92nd birthday. She died in the comfort of her home, surrounded by family.
“Libby” was born in Natrona, Pennsylvania to Frank and Frances Rutkowski Polish immigrants. She married her grammar school sweetheart, Stephen in 1947 and they shared an amazing life together for 52 years, giving her children a perfect example of a loving, respectful marriage. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Stephen, her brothers, Marcel (Moke)Rutkowki, John (Uco) Rutkowski, Walter (Doak) Rutkowski, and her sister, Helen Meiszkowki.
She is survived by her daughters, Diane (Marshall) Spikings of Valley Grande, Alabama and Marilyn (Antonio) Cucchiaro of Sunrise, Florida. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren, David (Cynde) Spikings, Matt (Murray) Spikings and Bethany (Josh) Spikings Alford, Tony (Marie)Cucchiaro, Andrew (Tina)Cucchiaro, and Alex Cucchiaro, great-grandchildren, Dillon Dannenhauer, Danny Spikings, Alexia Cucchiaro, Dax Alford, Samantha Cucchiaro, Charlotte Elizabeth Alford, Elizabeth Marshall Spikings, Lilia Cucchiaro, and Katherine Alford and several nieces and nephews.
Libby loved life. She was a devoted wife and mother who taught her family the values needed to live well. She enjoyed her role as a homemaker; she was an excellent cook who provided her family with Polish food and traditions. Who could resist her homemade pierogi? She enjoyed baking from scratch and her pies and cookies were prizeworthy. She was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed crocheting, playing Bingo, old movies especially musicals, family games, particularly Philadelphia Rum, Mexican Train and Backgammon. One could often hear her cry, “anyone up for a game of Philly?” She enjoyed watching football and was a huge Steelers fan.
She was a member of St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church, since its beginning, where she was deeply involved. She served as lector, Eucharistic minister, belonged to the Legion of Mary and was a dedicated rosary maker, serving those around the world with this ministry.
Visitation will be held at the T.M. Ralph Funeral Home, 7001 NW 4 Street Plantation, Florida, from 4PM - 7PM, Tuesday December 29th.
There will be a Funeral Mass at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Sunrise, at 10 AM, Wednesday, December 30th. She will be entombed at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery, immediately following Mass.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, December 30, 2015, 10AM at Saint Bernard Catholic Church entombment will follow at Our Lady Queen Of Heaven Cemetery in North Lauderdale, Florida.
