Sharla Marie Schuh, 48, passed away peacefully in her own home on Saturday, January 9th, 2016 of natural causes due to complications from cardiovascular disease.
Sharla was born November 15, 1967 in Pennsgrove, New Jersey where she lived until she was 11. At that time, Sharla moved to Ft. Lauderdale where she quickly became a prominent figure at Floyd Hull Stadium as an athlete, coach and umpire, where she is known for being the first girl to play boys’ tackle football in Broward County. To friends and family she is known for her unwavering selflessness and heart of gold. She was a graduate of Stranahan High School Class of 1985.
Sharla was a passionate sports fan and supported many teams. She especially loved the Dallas Cowboys. Sharla was a fan of Darth Vader and Oscar “the Grouch”. For those of you that had the pleasure to dine with Sharla, she had the ability to make every dining experience uniquely uncomfortable.
Sharla is survived by her Partner, Margaret Calvano. Her Sister, Bevarly Schuh. Her Children, Jeffrey Michael Schuh and his wife, Amanda. David Maughn and his wife Michelle. Laura Brown and her husband Justin. And Brian Maughn. Her Granddaughter’s, Makenna Lynn Maughn a.k.a. “Pumpkin” and Emma Rose Brown a.k.a. “Peanut”. Her Nephew, Mason Louis Schuh a.k.a. “Muffin”. Her Aunt’s Karen and Salley. Her Dogs, Gunner, Gabbie, Riley, Vinnie and Sally. Her cats, Paisley and Payton. And her bunnies Bailey and Oliver.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Susan and Peter Cauwenberghs.
Services for Sharla will be held on Wednesday, January 13th from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at TM Ralph Funeral Home.
