Vilma M. Brunton was born to Irving and Lydia De Nobriga on May 26th 1935 in Port of Spain, Trinidad, West Indies. She was 81 years of age and was a resident of Sunrise, Florida. She died shortly after having abdominal surgery at Westside Regional Hospital on Friday, June 3rd 2016 at 6:50 A.M.
She was the beloved wife of Norton A. Brunton for over 55 years. They were married on June 5th 1960. She was also the dedicated mother of Karen N. Brunton, her only daughter.
She retired from Phil’s Academy where she worked as a Teachers’ Assistant for over 15 years. While working there she obtained her High School Diploma. She also worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for close to 2 years.
While in Trinidad, Vilma cooked lunches for St. Vincent de Paul and also prepared children for first communion and confirmation at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.
She is survived by her sisters: Verna Wood, Margot Bowman, and Patricia De Nobriga, all of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Jeanie De Nobriga, of Barbados. She is also survived by her brother, Desmond De Nobriga, who currently resides in Trinidad.
She was christened into the Roman Catholic faith at the time of her birth and was a devout member of All Saints Catholic Church.
The viewing will take place at T.M. Ralph Plantation Funeral Home, 7001 Nw 4 Street, Monday, June 6th 2016 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
The funeral mass will be held at All Saints Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 7th 2016 at 11:00 A.M.
