Elizabeth (Libby) Talbert ToddPassed away peacefully on Sunday June 19th, 2016 in Plantation, Florida, where she had lived 10 years at Covenant Village. She formerly was a 50-year resident of Miami Springs, Florida, where she had been an active member of Poinciana United Methodist Church, Miami Springs Woman’s Club, Church Women United and the Springs Sociables. She developed many wonderful lifelong friendships at both places. Mrs. Todd was the daughter of the late Dr. Robert Jennings Talbert and Georgia Deason Talbert of McCormick, South Carolina. She was a graduate of Winthrop University and was employed as an English teacher and a secretary as a young lady. She also served as a Nurse Aide for the Red Cross during the war. She enjoyed all types of crafts, needlepoint, reading, crossword puzzles, entertaining and especially playing bridge with her friends. She was a true Southern lady, kind, generous, tough when she had to be, and always drew strength and comfort through her strong Christian faith. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and friend and for her optimism, wit and good humor.Mrs. Todd was predeceased by her husband Hamilton Smith Todd, Sr., sisters Gladys, Roberta, and Carrie Sue, brother Robert Jennings and stepson Richard Lynn Todd. She is survived by her loving sons David Hamilton Todd and William Talbert (Bill) Todd (Theresa), grandchildren Joshua, Kevin and Megan, daughter-in law Jennifer, stepson Hamilton Smith Todd, Jr. (Jane), and many nieces and nephews that she loved so much.In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in her name to the Poinciana United Methodist Church, 300 N Royal Poinciana Blvd, Miami Springs, FL 33166, or to the charity of your choice.Libby will be included in the combined quarterly celebration of life service at the Covenant Village Center, 9231 W. Broward Blvd, Plantation, FL 33324 on Friday July 15th, at 3:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to gather after this service.
