Ruth Kottas Perera

Ruth Kottas Perera, 91, of Plantation passed to her heavenly reward on July 13, 2016. She is survived by her daughter Diane Perera-Farbstein (David), her sons Michael Perera (Deborah) and Douglas Perera, her grandchildren Margot DeConna (Nicholas), Patrick Trainor, Anthony Perera (Katherine), Peri Farbstein, Francesca Perera, Alexandria Perera, Joseph Perera, Stephanie Perera and Daniela Perera. She is remembered by her family as a loving Mother and Grandmother. She was a talented seamstress and gourmet cook; she loved to sing and was for many years in the choir at St. Gregory the Great church and she was in the parish bowling league for decades. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was the “life of the party.” At the same time, she was the embodiment of grace and a shining example to her family and everyone who knew her. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Herbert and Margot Kottas, her sister Ursula Kottas, and her beloved husband of 63 years, O. “Vic” Perera, Jr. Her family will receive friends on Sunday from 3:00-5:00PM at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, 12:00PM at St. Gregory Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
