Phyllis Block of Plantation, Florida finished her life on July 29, 2016, at the age of 85. She was the daughter of Harry and Juanita Block and sister to Roy S. Block. She was the loving caretaker of all three until they died. Phyllis grew up in Bellwood, Illinois and was a registered nurse. She was a graduate of the charter class of 1952 of the nursing program at Passavant Memorial Hospital and Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. Her nursing career included work in community hospitals and physician's offices. She and her parents moved to Florida in 1968. In Florida she worked in an administrative role at Memorial Hospital. She retired in 1994. She loved dogs, reading, and the Bayberry Garden Club of Fort Lauderdale, where she was as a leader and a dedicated member. She will be missed by her many friends and neighbors. Phyllis was a gracious hostess and had true joe de vie. She will be remembered by her niece Nicole (Adam, husband) Kostecki and her two grandnieces, Isabel and Ava of Manhattan, Illinois and her cousin Matthew Wukasch, her advocate and caretaker in this last good bye. A memorial service will be held at Covenant Village, Plantation Florida on Friday the 5th of August 2016. At her request her interment will be at Oakridge cemetery in Hillside Illinois at a later date.
