James E. Murray, “Jim.” 56 of Hollywood, formerly of Plantation, peacefully passed away on September 27, 2016 surrounded by his family after a long illness.
Born on July 17, 1960, in Englewood, NJ, Jim graduated from River Dell Regional High School in Oradell, NJ, and went on to receive a BS in Business Administration from St. Peter’s College in Jersey City, NJ. Jim had a very successful career in the management of logistics and efficiency of operations for companies including Blockbuster and Planet Hollywood. Most recently he was a Vice President at JL Audio in Miramar.
Jim was very active in his children’s schools, and parish, and volunteered for several years at the annual St. David Catholic Church carnival and Christmas activities. Jim was also very active in the Plantation Athletic League programs serving as coach and commissioner for numerous years. He much enjoyed coaching both of his children and their teams in numerous sports including baseball, soccer, and football. Coach Jim enjoyed all sports, but was an avid football fan, that loved his New York Giants.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Lauren, his dedicated son Sean and devoted daughter Dani.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents Joseph A. Murray and Irene T. Murray and his sister Mary.
Jim is survived by his sister Kathleen Nugent, brother-in-law James, brother Joseph and his wife Nancy, brother John and his wife Elaine, brother Thomas, sister Maureen Spaseff and brother-in-law Stephen, brother William and his wife Jill, brother Robert and his wife Elizabeth, sister Annmarie Loughnane and brother-in-law Martin, as well as father-in-law Weldon Weaver, mother-in-law Elizabeth Weaver and brother-in-law Weldon Weaver.
Visitation will be held TM Ralph Funeral Home 7001 NW 4th Street, Plantation FL 33317 on September 30, 2016 from 5-8 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. David Catholic Church 3900 South University Drive, Davie, FL 33328. Burial will follow at Lauderdale Memorial Park Cemetery, 2001 SW 4th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, 33315.
