Don McMahon, eighty years young, of Tamarac, Florida passed away on December 26th, 2016 as a result of complications post op surgery. Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle and loyal friend to so many who loved and respected him. Don served forty plus years for the United States Postal Service as both a letter carrier and President of Branch 2550 Letter Carriers Union. In retirement, he proudly served as Health Benefits Representative for Branch 2550 and he also served on the board of the Postal Credit Union. Don was an avid Miami Dolphins and Miami Marlins fan and had a love and passion for traveling; particularly cruising. Don had a zest for life and had a way of spreading that zest to others. He served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Saratoga. He is survived by his lovely bride (as he so often and affectionately referred to her), Addie McMahon; his three daughters, Susan Clark, Cathy Laystrom, and Jodi Bergman; his two sons-in-law (who he loved and considered his own sons), Bill Laystrom and Frank Bergman; five grandchildren, Jennifer Reich (grandson-in-law, Michael Reich), William Laystrom, Katelyn Laystrom, and Joseph Bergman; two great grandchildren, Christian Halsey and Ashlee Reich. He was extremely proud of and admired by his family. Don was proud of his Irish descent and was a dedicated American Patriot. He will be greatly missed by all. Visitation for Don will be Thursday, December 29th, from 6-8 pm, Friday, December 30th, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at T.M. Ralph Sunrise Funeral Home, 371 NW 136th Avenue, Sunrise, FL 33325. Service will be on Saturday, December 31st, 9:30 am at T.M. Ralph Sunrise Funeral Home, followed by interment at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1500 S. State Road 7, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. A Celebration of Life will follow at the NALC Union Hall, 3062 NW 60th Ave., Sunrise, Florida.
