Allen T. Harker, 82, of Plantation, FL, passed on to his heavenly home on Monday, January 2nd, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents (Wilson and Ida), brother (Jack), and sister (Joan). He is survived by his wife, Marna Kay, three sons, Keith Allen, Christopher, and Paul David and his wife, Julie; sisters, Nancylayne Wolking and Peggy Ann Darden and her husband Jim. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Married to Marna on March 20, 1955, they created a beautiful love story lasting more than 61 years. Allen was a loving husband and father, but more importantly, a devoted provider to his family. Allen served as an active member of the Army for 27 years, and 13 years as an inactive member, retiring in 1994, with 40 years of total service. From 1965 – 1980, he worked as an insurance agent / adjuster with The Hartford Insurance Group, and then Willis Insurance Agency. He then became owner / proprietor, along with his wife Marna, of their own sporting goods business (Sport Source) in 1982. He took great pride in coaching his sons’ in P.A.L. football, and was also a long time member of the Kiwanis Club, District 22, in Hollywood, FL, and received the Kiwanis “Distinguished Lieutenant Governor” award for 1976-1977. Those who knew him well would remember that he had a witty sense of humor that will be greatly missed, and he had a knack for being able to create laughter in any moment, but when it came to real life situations, he was our “rock”, lending advice that was priceless.
