Video TributeCasorine Evadnie Maloney, 69, left us early on the morning of January 2, 2017 at her home in Lauderdale Lakes, FL where she was lovingly cared for by her husband, Ivan, after a long battle with her illness. Cassie, as she was known to many, was born in Gallon Jug, Belize on February 4, 1947 to the late Oliver Codd and Florence Crawford. Cassie attended school in Crooked Tree and later worked at the family bakery in Belize. In 1977, she migrated to New York and lived with her sister, Isolene. While attending a party with a friend she met her soon to be husband, Ivan (Kenneth). They were married three months later in 1977 and lived in Brooklyn, NY, where they adopted a beautiful Siamese cat, Leo. In 1991, they moved to Fort Lauderdale and bought a home in Lauderdale Lakes, FL. Cassie obtained her Heath Care Provider Certificate and worked as a caregiver for many years. She enjoyed her work and loved sharing stories of her workday whether you wanted to hear or not. Cassie enjoyed exercising and would often get up at 4:00 AM to meet her niece, Enid, for their daily 3 to 5 mile walks. She also loved shopping and going to the malls. Some of her favorite stores were Gimbels, Macy’s and Dillard’s. She was always impeccable dressed and very fashionable. You could always count on getting a little something from her shopping trips when you visited her at home. Her home was beautifully designed and she was always rearranging her furniture and adding new items. Her home was filled with beautiful antique pieces she and Kenneth purchased that added such warmth and character to their home. Cassie and Kenneth enjoyed going out dancing with their friends and entertaining at home. They traveled the entire western hemisphere together and told wonderful stories of their adventures abroad. Cassie was a loving, kind, giving person. She loved her family and had a ready smile for everyone and a fun laugh. Although shy at times, she loved meeting new people and talking with everyone. She will be missed dearly by everyone who loved and came in contact with her. She had an easygoing spirit, but at times was spunky and outspoken. She loved her Chardonnay and would often bring her favorite brand to family gatherings for everyone to enjoy. Cassie is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Ivan “Kenneth” Maloney; her brother Hilton Codd; two sisters Mae Romans and Loraine Hernandez; sisters-in-law, Ida Codd, Petti and Veronica Maloney; brothers-in law, Kerry, Ralph and Peter Maloney, countless nieces and nephews. Those we love can never be more than a thought apart, for as long as there is memory, they'll live on in the heart.” By Mary Alice Ramish.
