A LOVE STORY Samuel R. Lane and Lucille C. Lane, married for over seven decades, recently passed away within three days of each other. He was 94 and she was 92. The couple moved to Ft. Lauderdale in 1954. Sam opened the first television sales and repair store in the area, located at 400 South Andrews Ave. He also built the first amusement center in town, Fun Fair. Many residents can still remember riding the Ferris wheel and bumper cars when they were kids. Sam served as president of the downtown Lion’s Club and was a devoted member of the United Methodist Church. He founded Fairlane Financial, the first annuity marketing corporation in the United States. Sam remained active in his company until the age of 90, opening the doors each morning, rain or shine. He would have the entire Wall Street Journal read by 9:00 A.M. Lucille was a wonderful, loving mother to their three children. Among her many contributions, she ran a Girl Scout troop and supported the boys in sports activities. She also worked as a fashion model and fashion commentator in the South Florida area. She always looked like a queen, even in her last years. Sam and Lucille will be deeply missed by everyone who knew them. But we take joy in their love story. Living together for most of their lives, they are now together eternally. They leave behind their daughter, Dianne Lane Skafte, and son, Ronald Lane; three grandchildren, Ronald Lane, Rhonda Lewis, and Andrew Skafte; and five great-grandchildren, Megan Lewis, Skylar Lewis, Katie Lane, Lily Lane, and Daniel Skafte. Their beloved deceased son, David Lane, is with them now.Arrangments by T.M. Ralph Plantation Funeral Home 7001 NW 4 Street Plantation, FL 33317 954 587-6888
