Jean Wiley Cary, 86, passed away February 4, 2017 – at peace at last. She was a loving, devoted wife and mother, and had many friends who considered her one of their favorite people. Born in Chicago March 15, 1930, she was brought up in Auora, Illinois and graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1951. She taught Spanish in West High School in Aurora, and later ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) at Nova in Davie, which was the highlight of her professional career. She loved her work with adults from all over the world, and several times heard “You are the best teacher I ever had.” She became a Teacher of the Year nominee. Jean is survived by her husband of 57 years, Charles, three sons, Philip, Calvin, and Christopher; granddaughter Taylor and grandson Cody. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 17 at the Plantation United Methodist Church, 1001 NW 70th Avenue, Plantation.
