William Hamilton Benckert Jr.

William Hamilton (Whitey) Benckert Jr, 84 years of age, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 17, 2017.  He was born on February 29, 1932 in Philadelphia, PA to William H Benckert Sr. and Catherine (Van Blunk) Benckert.  William was raised in Philadelphia, PA where he was a South Philadelphia High School(aka Southern) Graduate, member of the Philadelphia Mummers Hall of Fame and City Champion of the Boys Club of Philadelphia in billiards and table tennis. William was an honorable US Army Veteran and served in the Korean War.  He was a longtime auditor for the Pennsylvania Railroad and was actively involved in St. Luke’s Catholic School in Stratford, NJ.  He was also active with the Stratford(NJ) VFW Falcons football program as were all four of his sons. William (Whitey) Benckert, a beloved husband to the late Eleanor Lucchetti Benckert, brother to Jean Benckert Kirschner, father to James (Jim) Benckert, William (Bill) Benckert, Joseph (Joe) Benckert, John Benckert, Donna Benckert Swerdloff, grandfather to Matt Benckert, Sarah Benckert, Michael (Mikey) Swerdloff, Brian Benckert, Jenna Benckert, Stephanie Benckert Bordner, Melissa Benckert, Jacob Swerdloff, Billy Benckert and Jessica Benckert, Great Grandfather to Giuliana Benckert and baby Bennett arriving June 2017. Whitey’s most enjoyed hobbies included attending horse racing events, playing cards and traveling the country to spend time with his family and friends.  Visitation Monday at the T.M. Ralph Plantation Funeral Home  7001 NW 4 Street Plantation, FL 333173:00-5:00 PM.
