Shirley Cornett

January 26, 1937 — February 20, 2017

Cornett, Shirley, 80, of Plantation, passed away on February 20, 2017.  Shirley was a graduate of Auburn University, a lifelong “Tiger Fan”. She had a passion for entertaining, and making sure everyone was fed all the time; she had the gift of hospitality. Shirley was a devoted mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren.  She was a member of Davie United Methodist Church, and Lago Mar Country Club. Shirley is survived by her children, Catherine Cornett Fox (Andrew) of Tulsa, OK, and Michael James Cornett (Joyce) of Cumming, GA; grandchildren, Lauren and Elizabeth Fox, and Daniel Cornett; brother, Bobby J. Rains (Jennie); sisters-in-law, Eula Campbell and Olene Hall; and a host of nieces and nephews.  The family would like to extend their sincerest thank you to Dr. Luis Barreras. Visitation will be Friday, from 9:00 AM-10:00 AM at Davie United Methodist Church with a funeral service at 10:00 AM, followed by a lunch at the church. Interment will be private at South Florida National VA Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband Harold, who preceded her in death in 2016.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her loving memory to Davie United Methodist Church.
