Adolph Hobson-Garcia, fondly known as “Dopey,” passed away peacefully at home in Weston, Florida, on December 6, 2024, after a brief illness. He was born on September 17, 1937, in Charles Street, Cobo Town, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, and his life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and lasting friendships.
Adolph dedicated much of his professional life to a gratifying career as a computer programmer at US Air. In this capacity, he had the joy of working closely with his beloved brother, Bernard, with whom he shared many amusing tales and cherished moments. His retirement saw him embrace a new chapter at Target, where his infectious smile and kind-hearted nature welcomed countless customers. Adolph had a unique talent for making friends with everyone who came through the door, leaving a warm mark on all who crossed his path.
His education took root at Fatima College in Trinidad, where his intellectual curiosity and charm blossomed. Known for his quick wit and humorous storytelling, he became a cherished source of joy for family and friends alike. Adolph and his brothers were particularly recognized for their lighthearted fashion statement of socks and sandals, a look that symbolized their camaraderie and shared laughter.
Adolph’s zest for life extended beyond his career; he had an unwavering love for technology, particularly WhatsApp, which he utilized to connect with family and friends across the globe. Sharing videos of people dancing brought him immense joy, and these moments of camaraderie were a testament to his belief in celebrating life and the simple pleasures it offers.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Cynthia Hobson-Garcia, who has been a pillar of strength and love throughout their years together. Adolph is also survived by his brother, Robert Hobson-Garcia, as well as cherished nephews, Kirk Hobson-Garcia and Adam de Silva, and niece, Patricia Angeli Kern, alongside great-nephew Kaleb Hobson-Garcia. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews scattered across the United States, Canada, and Trinidad and Tobago, all of whom will fondly remember the laughter and love he brought into their lives.
Adolph reunites with his beloved brothers who have passed before him: Desmond, Teddy (Edward), Neville (Julien), and Bernard. Their memories will forever carry the joy of their shared experiences, carving a legacy of love and connection that will endure across generations.
