Alberto Olivares, 69, of Weston passed away March 3, 2018. Funeral Service:St. Bonaventure Catholic Church @1pm 1301 SW 136th Ave Davie, FL 33325   Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery 11411 NW 25th Street Doral, FL 33172               With great sadness, the family of Alberto Olivares announces his passing at age 69. Alberto was the beloved husband of Monica, father of Gabriela and Alberto Jorge, father-in-law of Carlton, brother of Jorge, and brother-in-law of Marc. He will also be remembered with love by countless family members and friends. Born in Guantanamo, Cuba, in 1948, he migrated with his mother and brother to Miami, Florida, in 1962. For several years in the 1970s and 1980s, he lived in Venezuela, where he met Monica. Since 1990 he has lived with his family in Weston, Florida. A graduate of the University of Miami, he was a novelist, painter, and aficionado of scotch, cigars, orchids, and travel. He was predeceased by his father Alberto and his mother Lea.             A funeral service in memory of Alberto will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018, at 1:00 p.m., at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Davie, Florida, followed by his burial at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery in Miami, Florida.       Memorial donations in honor of Alberto can be made to the Cuban Heritage Collection at the University of Miami Libraries (P.O. Box 248214, Coral Gables, FL 33124).
