Alden (Tom) Howard Booth passed away in Vero Beach. He is Survived by his wife Helga G. Booth Daughter: Susanna E. Duffany, Son in Law: Mark E. Duffany; Granddaughter: Alexandria M. Duffany and Sarah E. Duffany He was preceded in death by his siblings Jacqueline Melohn, Sherlene Saurer, William J. Booth
Tom was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Upper NY State. He attended High School in Newburgh, NJ, before attending Chaminacle Marcy as he felt a calling to the Priesthood. He went to the Trappist Monastery for further studies, but due to health reasons was unable to finish. His spirit was broken, and he went to visit his parents in Fort Lauderdale. He traveled from Fort Lauderdale, to Las Vegas, to San Francisco, onto Hawaii and New York City; supporting himself as a waiter. He served with the US Army for 3 years, and wanting to see the world, joined the Merchant Marines traveling to Europe, Asia And India. He met his beloved wife Helga, on a trip home to Fort Lauderdale to visit his brother, who had suffered a neck Injury. Helga was treating his brother, and they later married in 1966 in Germany. Tom went to sea one more year after they were married but returned home to Fort Lauderdale to raise a family, becoming a Petroleum Salesperson. Throughout their married life, Tom and Helga loved traveling, starting with their honeymoon in Switzerland and were blessed to be able to travel to different countries every year. Tom was an active parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs church; being in the choir for over 30 years, serving as a eucharistic minister, and a Lecturer as needed.
