Alwynne A Conklin

    Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on August 22, 2023, at the age of 92. 

     Alwynne was born January 29, 1931, in Binghamton, New York to Kenneth Eugene Arnold and Ernestine Rolles Arnold.  She married Roy Frederick Conklin on December 16, 1950.  Together they had five children.   – Suzanne, Gary, Neena, Scott and Brian. 

     Alwynne was a schoolteacher for over 35 years.  She served in the Broward County school system as a teacher at Plantation Elementary.  She earned her bachelor’s degree in Oneonta State Teachers College in New York and her master’s degree in education from Barry University. 

     Her father loved music and passed this love onto Alwynne.  She was very musically inclined, playing the trumpet in high school and at church events.  She played the piano, organ, accordion, marimba, bells and even played musical glasses for holiday events.  She was an active member of the Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for many years.  Alwynne loved to travel and spent time visiting her children and grandchildren around the globe. 

     She is survived by her children Suzanne (Dave) Hartman, Neena Slater, Scott (Barbara) Conklin, Brian (Wendi) Conklin, her daughter-in law Pamela Conklin, her grandchildren, Sean (Jessica) Hartman, Mitzi Bishop, Amanda Conklin, Alaina Hartman, Marc (Jenny) Hartman, Mathew Conklin, Kyle Conklin, Taylor (Kenneth) Bittner, Jonathan (Ricki) Arndt, Samantha Conklin, Alex Hartman, Patrick (Brooke) Conklin, her great-grandchildren Asher Arndt, Oakley Arndt, Willow Arndt, Mason Bishop, Adeline Bittner, Aiden Bittner, Bella Conklin, Keegan Conklin, Lane Conklin, Brody Hartman,  Logan Hartman, Claire Lewis and Ryan Lewis.  Preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roy, her brother Roger, and her son Gary.
