Andrew Joseph McCauley, Jr.

Andrew Joseph McCauley, Jr., 86, of Weston, Florida, passed peacefully at home on January 19, 2025.  

Beloved husband of Anne McCauley for 55 years, a caring father to son Andrew J. McCauley III, (fiancee Bretta) of Yelm WA, and daughter Stacey Maynard (Travis) of Fort Collins, CO, and a loving grandfather to grandsons Andrew (fiancee Megan), Ian, Jackson, Logan. Brother to Audrey Markey, and brother in law to William Thompson. He is also missed by countless other relatives and friends. 

Born on May 19, 1938, in Orange, New Jersey, Andrew dedicated his life to serving his country with honor and integrity. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Army for twenty years, rising to the rank of Master Sergeant. Throughout his illustrious military career as a Green Beret, Andrew earned multiple awards and recognition for his service including his time during the Vietnam War.

Andrew was not only a soldier; he also devoted over 20 years to service in the U.S. government, where he continued to exemplify the values of duty and dedication. His contributions to his country reflect a profound commitment that earned him respect among his peers and gratitude from those he served.

In addition to his devotion to his family, Andrew had various interests that enriched his life. He enjoyed traveling with a spirit of adventure and had a particular passion for gardening, with a special fondness for caring for his orchids. Known for his ability to fix anything that needed repair, he could always be counted on to come up with a creative solution to any problem. During the last few years of his life, Andrew faced health challenges with remarkable resilience. His family and caregivers were often entertained by his great sense of humor.  The family would like to thank his caretakers for the loving care they gave him during his last years with us.

The viewing will take place at T.M. Ralph Funeral Home Sawgrass/Weston in Sunrise, Florida, on January 27, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A Mass honoring Andrew’s life will be celebrated at Saint Bonaventure Catholic Church in Davie, Florida, on January 28, 2025, at 9:30 AM. A private burial will take place at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery. 

He was a life member of the Special Forces Association and the 75th Ranger Regiment Association.

Andrew Joseph McCauley, Jr. leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and strength. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
