Ann Wadden Drag (Seabrook) Obituary

Ann Wadden Drag (Seabrook), a longtime Fort Lauderdale resident and native of Arlington, MA, succumbed to Alzheimer’s on November 26, 2024. Ann was born on January 5, 1940 and was one of two children (younger brother David) and the only daughter of George and Ruth Seabrook. She fell hopelessly in love with John P. Drag, Sr. and they married May 6, 1961 and lived happily married for over fifty years. They moved to East Chicago, Indiana after John’s tour in the US Navy. John always joked that “You can take the girl out of Boston, but you can never take Boston out of the girl!” Ann never truly lost her Boston accent.

Son, John, Jr. (1962) and daughter, Linda (1963) were born to John and Ann and in 1968, the family moved to Fort Lauderdale where Ann was a “stay at home mom” and raised Linda and Jay until they were of high school age. She then went back to work and faithfully served the students of the Broward County School System. Ann spent her entire career at Pompano Beach Elementary, holding a variety of positions – Teacher’s Aide, Secretary, and Principal’s Secretary. Wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Ann will remain in the hearts and minds of many. Ann is predeceased by her husband, John P. Drag, Sr., mother Ruth Seabrook and father, George Seabrook. Ann’s younger brother, David Seabrook passed away earlier this year on June 9th 2024. Ann is survived by her daughter Linda J. Heinz (Drag) of Lutz, Florida and her husband Daniel Heinz, Ann’s son John P. Drag, Jr. of Plantation and his wife Emily R. Drag (Bordy) with Ann’s three grandchildren, Michael B. Drag, John P. Drag III, and Ryan M. Drag. Sister-in-Law Dr. Sherry Seabrook and her children (niece and nephew to Ann) Ruth (Ezra) and Stephan (Fabiana). Niece Mimi Araiinejad (Simko) and her family, nephews Chris and Marcel Sarzen and their respective families also count "Aunt Ann" as beloved and she will be greatly missed.
