Ann Roberts Riddle, a cherished beacon of kindness and warmth, gracefully departed this world on February 14, 2025, in Plantation, Florida. Born on February 29, 1932, a leap year baby, in Cleveland, Ohio, Ann lived a life rich in love, laughter, and accomplishment, embodying the spirit of a truly remarkable individual. She took pride in her unique date of birth, being a leap year baby; a claim not many can make.
A proud graduate of Fort Lauderdale High, class of 1950, Ann went on to pursue her education at the University of Florida, where she became a member of the Delta Gamma sorority, fostering friendships that would last a lifetime. Her career as a legal assistant at Fleming, O'Bryan and Fleming in Fort Lauderdale exemplified her unwavering dedication and remarkable work ethic. Yet, it was in the nurturing of her family and friends that Ann found her greatest fulfillment.
Ann's family life was abundant and enriching. She is survived by her beloved daughters, Kimberly Riddle, who, along with her son-in-law Stephen B. Smith of Tallahassee, shares in the profound legacy of love that Ann imparted. Her other daughter, Kristen R. May, along with her grandson, Michael L. May, also of Plantation, reflect the fullness of Ann's pride and joy. She took great pride in her four children and cherished grandson, whose lives she deeply influenced.
Beyond her family, Ann's spirit resonated within her community and among her close circle of friends. Known for her welcoming personality and infectious humor, she created an atmosphere of comfort wherever she went. Ann reveled in the simple joys of life—reading, playing cards, and entertaining those she held dear. She found immense joy in her close-knit group of girlfriends, with whom she shared countless evenings filled with laughter and heartfelt camaraderie. A trusted and loyal friend, she was the embodiment of what it meant to be there for others.
Ann's commitment to her community was pronounced through her active participation as the Past President of the Children's Aid Club and her heartfelt volunteer work as a candy striper at Plantation General Hospital and as a volunteer at the Helen B. Hoffmann Library in Plantation. She loved animals of all kind, but held a special fondness for cats. She participated and supported the Humane Society of Broward County. These endeavors were emblematic of her dedication not only to her family but also to the nurturing of others in need.
She is preceded in death by loving parents Rees Raymond Roberts and Marie Biebelhausen Roberts, as well as her devoted husband David L. Riddle, Jr., and sons David L. Riddle, III, and Randolph Rees Riddle. Each of these monumental figures in her life shaped her, etching indelible marks upon her heart.
