Barbara Jean (McFarlane) Crews, 87, of Coral Springs, went home to be with the Lord, on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.
Barbara was born on September 15, 1936 to Melbourne H. McFarlane and Marion Ada (Bullard) McFarlane in Springfield, Massachusetts. In 1946 her family moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. After graduating from Fort Lauderdale High School she went on to study at the School of X Ray Technology at Mercy Hospital, graduating with a degree in Radiology Technology.
Her first employment was at Mercy Hospital and she advanced her career to department head. She also studied diagnostic ultrasound and excelled with this. She later worked at Osteopathic General Hospital, in North Miami.
In 1970 on February 27th, Barbara married the love of her life, Dr. Harold R. Crews, at Miami Shores Community Church. They raised three children, Bill, Karen and Mark.
Barbara and Harold spent their free time together going to North Carolina in the summers. Barbara, a loving grammy, enjoyed precious time with her grandchildren, volunteering at church, attending bible studies and enjoying lunches with friends and PEO.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Melbourne, her father and Marjorie McFarlane, her step mother, and Dorothy McKey her loving aunt. She is survived by her loving husband, Harold, beloved children, Bill Taylor, Karen Skinner, Mark Crews, and son in law, Jeff Skinner and her precious grandchildren, William Taylor, Wesley Skinner, Kyle Skinner, Ryan Skinner and Hannah Skinner. She is also survived by her brother, Richard H. McFarlane.
Services will be held at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 7601 S.W. 39th Street, Davie, FL on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at one o’ clock. Burial will be in South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 FL-7 Wellington, FL, on Monday, April 8, 2024 at 12:30.
