Barbara Reynolds Wheeler, 92, of Pompano Beach, died Tuesday, September 6, 2022. Preceding Barbara in death was her mother and father, Walter and Mildred Reynolds, brother, Walter Reynolds, husband, Lester R. Wheeler, and daughter, Catherine Ann Wheeler. She is survived by her sons Mickey (Donna), and Eric (Cyndy), two grandchildren, Brad (Alexis), Sara (Justin), and four great-grandchildren, Kendall Ann, Maddox Joseph, Jacob Jesus, and Cruz Michael and one more on the way in January 2023.
Barbara was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher, Cub Scout leader, friend, and baseball fan, these were just of few of her loving attributes.
Barbara attended high school in Coral Gables, Florida, where she met the "love of her life", Pete. They dated and graduated together from the University of Miami in 1952. Pete and Barbara were married on February 14, 1953, and she joined Pete on his tour of duty in Tripoli, Libya, North Africa. Their daughter Catherine Ann was born while they were stationed in Tripoli. Coming back to civilian life, Barbara and Pete resided in South Miami, where their family of three grew to a family of five. Mickey was born in 1957 and Eric was born sixteen months later.
Barbara dearly loved her family and so enjoyed watching her grandchildren Brad and Sara grow into such fine, caring, loving adults. She was always so proud of her family.
In 2004, Barbara and Pete moved to John Knox Village where they retired and enjoyed the remainder of their lives together with family and friends. Barbara was truly a wonderful, caring woman who spread her love and southern charm to each and everyone she encountered. How blessed we all were to call her our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
The family will be holding a Private Memorial Service.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
