Betsey K. Lynch, age 89, passed away peacefully at Artis Senior Living in Davie, Florida on November 1, 2024.
Betsey was born September 15, 1935 to Frederick S. & Ruth M. Kriger. She grew up in Corning, NY and spent her summers on Keuka Lake. After graduating from Corning Free Academy in 1953 and Elmira College in 1957, Betsey taught high school English in Rochester, NY and later returned to teach at Corning Free Academy. She married her high school sweetheart, James P. Lynch in 1958 and raised their family in the Corning area. Betsey later worked for Corning Painted Post School District, was the Advertising Director for Hub Clothing and later worked for Corning Glass Works as a Project Manager. Teaching & Communications were major aspects of Betsey’s professional career. She moved to Cincinnati, OH & later Norwalk, CT, where she was a Communications Director for Deloitte & Touche and finished her career with William Mercer Benefits Consulting in Stamford, CT. She finally settled in W. Palm Beach, Florida to retire and devoted much of her time & experience to Osher Lifelong Learning.
Betsey loved traveling to Martha’s Vineyard, Cape Cod, Italy, the Greek Islands, Europe & Jamaica, but also spanned coast to coast to see her treasured family & friends. She also loved gardening, exercising, snow skiing, spending time at the ocean and delighted in new experiences.
She was predeceased by her parents, and brothers Spencer & Robert Kriger. She is survived by her husband James P. Lynch of Plantation, FL. Her children, Michael (Cheryl) Lynch of Baltimore, MD, Christopher (Sarah) Lynch of Bethesda, MD, Robert (Frances) Lynch of Tarzana, CA and Karen (David) Kleinman of Plantation, FL. She loved her ten grandchildren and their spouses, with her heart & soul: Matthew (Kayla) Lynch, Kelsey (Max) Gentile, Dr. Niccola (Tom) Cox, Sam Lynch, Devin Lynch, Caitlin Lynch, Peter Lynch, Eamon Lynch, Dillon Kleinman and Jenna Kleinman. And as her soul becomes a guardian angel to all, Betsey became just that, to usher in the new generation in the birth of her first great grandchild, Benjamin James Gentile.
The family would like to thank the caregivers of Vi @ Lakeside Village in Lantana, FL, and Artis Senior Living, along with Vitas Hospice Care in Davie, FL for their kind, compassionate and spirited care of Betsey in her final years. They all said of her how sweet-natured she was and loved that she offered a “thank you” at every turn.
