Celebrating the Life of Carmen Anderson
On March 19, 2019, our dear mother, Carmen, entered fully into the presence of her Lord and Savior. Carmen Anderson was born in 1932 to Annie and David Barrett in Jamaica, WI. She was a happy child, inquisitive and quick to learn. But she was known most for a strong will, fun-loving spirit and boundless spirit which marked the rest of her life. Carmen was a vibrant soul, one who literally lit up the room whenever she entered. And right to the end, she was full of joy and always eager to help others until she became physically unable to do so. With a passion for music and ever-ready to burst into song, Carmen was drawn to people. She gave from her heart and touched so many lives with her kindness and caring. Her warm smile and gentle demeanor made her a favorite among children, and she genuinely loved being around them. So much so that she found her life’s work as an LPN in labor, delivery and neonatal care. Carmen was predeceased by her loving husband of almost 40 years, Rupert Anderson. Their life together was rich with love, life, family and adventure. A devoted woman of God, Carmen loved her family above all else. Carmen was a beloved mother of five children: Ian Anderson; Karen Anderson-Harrison; Claudette Patterson; Valerie Anderson and Michael Anderson. Grandmother to eight: Douglas Anderson; Ian Anderson; Jahmar Anderson; Michaele Harrison; David Harrison; Jasmine Anderson; Matthew Anderson & Paul Anderson. And Great Grandmother to seven: Tania Anderson; Michael Anderson; Malia Anderson; Jaden Anderson; Makila Anderson; and twins, Jahmiere & Zymiere Anderson. Carmen was also Godmother to Alan Harvey-Bowen and Lauryn Minter, as well as fostering and mentoring countless others over the years. The last two years of her life were spent under the loving care and assistance of the staff of Autumn Leaves in Houston, Texas, as well as the angels of Memorial-Hermann Hospice Center. The family gives everyone who cared for Carmen with such tenderness their greatest gratitude. Dear Mom...we’re going to miss you. Your decency, strength and kindness will stay with us forever. Through our tears, we see the blessings of knowing and loving you – a great and noble woman, and the best mother a daughter or son could have. In our grief, we will smile knowing that you are holding Dad’s hand again. You are forever in our hearts.
