Carmen Case, 87, of Davie, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2018 in Sunrise, Florida. She is predeceased by her parents, Aurelio Cebollero and Emilia Bonilla, sister Liana Cebollero, and late husband of 59 years, Nayland Case. Carmen was born in Cayey, Puerto Rico, a mountainous town in the central part of the island. She grew up Catholic in Old San Juan, attending grade school at Fort Buchanan where she was a straight-A student. A few years after graduating from the University of Puerto Rico, Carmen moved to Washington, D.C. with her best friend and began her career as a pharmacist. Soon after, in 1958, Carmen met her late husband, Nayland, at a dance that was held at a local Latin club. They married July 12, 1959 in Puerto Rico. In 1965 they adopted their only child, Natalie, and lived in Bowie, Maryland. Carmen and Nayland moved to South Florida in 1972, where they remained for the rest of their years, living in homes and condos throughout Dade and Broward counties. In the late 70’s they abandoned the corporate world and turned to real estate, owning and managing several investment properties including two small hotels in Miami Beach, where Carmen handled the bookkeeping and financial duties. Carmen enjoyed playing bingo and mah jongg. Carmen and Nayland were avid travelers, taking annual vacations and cruises to numerous international locales in Europe, South America and Canada. Carmen is survived by her daughter Natalie (Scott) Kollman, beloved grandson, Tyler, of Cherry Hill, NJ; one brother, three nieces and three nephews. A visitation will be held on August 25, from 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM, at T.M. Ralph Sawgrass Funeral Home, 371 NW 136th Avenue, Sawgrass, FL 33325, with a celebration of life service to follow at 1:30 PM.
