Carole E. Barer (nee Silverstein), 79, Plantation, FL passed peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, December 27, 2020 while in Hospice care with heart failure.
Carole is survived by Harvey Barer, her husband of 52 years, her daughter Donna DeMarco and son-in law, Anthony, her son, Andrew Barer, her three grandsons, Zachary, Joshua and Nicholas DeMarco and her brother, Irwin (Earl) Silverstein. She is predeceased by her mother, Beatrice Silverstein, who passed in 2007 at age of 97 and her father, Abraham (Al) Silverstein who passed in 1968.
Carole was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 28, 1941 and worked for IBM as a key punch operator until 1969, when Donna was born. The family lived in NY until 1973, when Carole and Harvey decided to move to FL with two little children to escape the snow. Although she lived in Broward County, FL since 1973, Carole’s distinctive New York accent always stayed with her.
Carole took pride in being a wonderful homemaker for her family, making sure she cared of everyone and always kept a beautiful and welcoming home.
Carole was extremely skilled in the art of crochet, making scarves, blankets and many other keepsakes that the family will use in her memory for many years. She loved all types of crafting, playing BINGO and caring for her dogs. She never had a home without at least one dog. Her favorite thing to do, however, was to visit and spend time with her 3 grandsons. They were the lights of her life, and the boys thought she was the best “Grammy” ever.
Carole will be dearly missed by everyone. Because Carole would want everyone to be safe from the pandemic, a public memorial service will not take place. Arrangements by T.M. Ralph Funeral Home 371 NW 136 Avenue Sunrise, Fl 33325 954 587-6888
