Clifford Lincoln Fishback, Jr. Born in 1925 in Washington D.C., he lived a full and fruitful life. At the age of 7, he attended FDRs first inauguration with his grandfather. At 18 he served our country in WWII as a machine gunner. He helped liberate the Nazi Concentration camps in Europe and, after V-E day, served as a guard at the Nuremberg Trials. After his service to our nation, he completed college at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and married his wife of 68 years, Helen, in 1950. They moved to Ft. Lauderdale and raised their family of four children, Mike, Jean, Fred and Tom. He was one of the most successful dairy farmers in the area, providing milk to MacArthur dairy in the 1950s before deciding to start a new career in computers. After graduating from the University of Miami with a master’s degree in the new field of computer programming, he went on to work at the Broward School Board, bringing computers and automation to one of the 10 largest school systems in the country. He moved westward from Ft. Lauderdale to Plantation in 1964, where he served as a director of the original home owners association. After his service at the school board he went on to FAU as a professor in 1975, teaching computer programming for countless students before retiring in 1997. In 2005 the Mayor proclaimed Helen and Cliff Fishback Day in Plantation for the couple’s countless efforts towards educating the children of the area. During their retirement, he and his wife traveled the world while attending to 7 grand children and 3 great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Helen and three children, Jean, Fred and Tom. The eldest son, Mike, died in 2003. Services were held at St. Gregory Catholic Church in Plantation at 11am on Saturday, May 26, 2018. A proud veteran, he will be interred at the South Florida National VA Cemetery on September 28 at 2:30 PM.
