Colin William Medhurst, 87, of Plantation, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2025. Born in Greenwich, England, he was the beloved son of Harry and Mabel Medhurst.

Colin is survived by his wife, Joan, his sons, Nicholas and Nigel, grand-children Ella and Barrett, his stepchildren, Peter and Maya, as well as his sister Jennifer. He was a man of insatiable curiosity and adventure, a passionate amateur archaeologist, an avid photographer, an accomplished free-diver, fisherman and conservationist. His love for sports was equally profound, and he proudly represented Jamaica in international rugby on numerous occasions.

Colin served with dedication at the Bank of Nova Scotia, working from 1960 in Jamaica and the Caribbean before retiring from the bank’s New York agency in 1998, as V-P, Real Estate.

He then resided in Belize where he continued his conservationism and established a wildlife reserve.

His professional acumen extended beyond banking, he was a member of the Board of Directors of G.A.Roe & Sons Ltd., an investment management company in Belize.

For the past decade Colin made his home in Plantation, Florida. He will be deeply missed by family and friends across the globe.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to Project Unite Humanity (ProjectUH.org), a cause close to his heart.
