Cornelius Cunningham, (Neil), 91, of Plantation, passed away on November 13, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Bath, New York, and moved to the Bronx, shortly after where all of his family resided. Neil graduated high school in 1944, and was drafted a few months later. He was very proud of his service in World War II, moving up the ranks very quickly ad became Sergeant within a few months. He served with the 27th Division, in the Pacific Theater, and the Occupation of Japan. After the war, he went to Iona College and then entered St. John’s Law School. He practiced law in New York City, before relocating to Miami, FL, in 1967; he practiced law in Miami until his retirement. He was a devout Roman Catholic and was very involved in the Pro-Life Movement for many years. Neil also was an avid runner, and ran his first full marathon at age 59, with three more to follow. Neil loved to see his children and grandchildren play sports, and was at almost every game cheering them. Neil is predeceased by his parents, Mary and Edward; his sister, Joan; brothers, Edward and Eugene, and his beloved wife Joan. He is survived by his children, Mary Fitzgerald, George Cunningham, Barbara (Blair) Kitching, Bonnie (Tom) Douglas, Edward (Christina) Cunningham, Eugene Cunningham, and Christopher Cunningham. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Timothy, Kathryn, Daniel, Elizabeth, Joseph, Kayleigh, Mallory, Ivy, and Jacqueline, as well a great grandson, Jack. Visitation will be Sunday, from 2:00 PM-6:00 PM, at T.M. Plantation Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, 10:00 AM, at St. Gregory The Great Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors. Arrangements entrusted to T.M.
