Memorial Service will be live-streamed.
David passed away on July 19, 2021, at the age of 69, at his sister’s home in Michigamme, MI, following a short battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband to his wife of 50 years, Kandy, the “Pops” of two children, Peggy Sue (Jack) Considine and Scott (Sylvia Lemon) Spallinger and “Grandpa” to Joshua David, Matthew James and Shelby Marie who were the love of his life. He is also survived by his three sisters, Theresa (Rick) Taylor, Bonnie (Bill) Stoner and Barbara (David) Taylor, sister-in-law, Monika Spallinger, his best friend, Milo (his Yorkie Terrier), brother-in-law Jack (Laurie) Lightfoot and Ron Lightfoot.
David loved riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle for over 25 years with the Ft. Lauderdale Chapter. He served on the Board of Directors for several years and was an active member in many charity rides and events. He was a true outdoorsman enjoying fishing, boating, scuba diving and skiing. He attempted golf but that was more fun for everyone else to watch than for David. He enjoyed travelling in his camper and going to the casino. Like his father, he was a talented carpenter.
His favorite time was Christmas when the family was all together. He got lists from the kids and had much fun selecting the right gifts for everyone. He made sure the grandchildren got tickets to Disney World which allowed David to be a kid again himself as he loved riding the Pirates of the Caribbean and singing “Yo Ho Yo Ho” all day long.
David was a giving man. If there was someone that needed help in any way, he was always there for support. He simply had a heart of gold. He knew how to make people feel special with just a smile. David’s beautiful blue eyes and infectious smile will never be forgotten.
David is preceded in passing by his parents, Howard and Dora (Army) Spallinger and brother Howard Gale Spallinger.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to UP Hospice at www.uphomehealth.org. in David’s name.
