With heavy heart we announce the unexpected passing of Dean William Gross, 59, of Miami Lakes and Pembroke Pines, Florida on Wednesday, November 23.
Dean is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 33 years, Rebecca Rae Gross; mother, Nancy Murray Gross of Miami Lakes; sister, Debbie Margaret Gross of Weston; brother, Daniel Thomas Gross and wife Laura of Tallahassee, nieces and nephews (Kyle, Savannah, Casey, Conner, Christina, Amber and Lainie) and many other family and friends. He was preceded by his father, Donald William Gross.
Dean was born in Winthrop, Mass. graduated from Hialeah/Miami Lakes High School and the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. He earned his CPA and had a successful professional career in the field of accounting and insurance.
Dean was an avid Florida Gator fan, deep sea fisherman and awesome gourmet cook. He was an extraordinary son, husband, uncle, and friend with a generous, loving spirit that will be dearly missed. One of Dean’s favorite spots (other than in a school of fish surrounded by friends) was in front of his triplex TV screens watching football with two 70lb golden retrievers (Cali and Cabo) in his lap. With a magnetic personality and his favorite phrase, “I gotcha”, he was always there when friends needed a financial planner, words of encouragement, neighbors needed a hand moving in or out, the family freezer needed more fish/lobster or there was a reason to celebrate a special occasion with laughter and some good loud music Dean was bigger than life to his nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Plantation United Methodist Church 1001 NW 70th Ave, Plantation, FL 33313 on Saturday, December 10.
Viewing at 11:00am
Celebration of Life Service at 11:30am
Join the family to celebrate in Dean’s way. He would not have wanted a dress up service. Just come in your Casual Saturday attire. The family requests you wear a favorite Fishing shirt, College T-shirt (Gator’s preferred), golf shirt or boating attire. This would be a tribute to his love of life, the outdoor world that God has created and deep love for family, friends and neighbors.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Mystic Force Foundation to cure childhood cancer and Plantation United Methodist Church Good Samaritan Fund. The Good Samaritan Fund is a Mission administered by the Plantation United Methodist Church for food and other essential living expenses: to serve those in need of emergency assistance.
