Donald Hugh McMillen of Plantation, FL passed early Thursday morning surrounded by loved ones. Born on April 16, 1934 in Potosi, MO, Don was a constant source of laughter and joy to all he knew throughout his 84 years.
While attending Drury College, he met his wife of 60 years, Sally Short. An airforce veteran and a hardworking business man, Don found success wherever he went, always dressed dapperly and had an ample amount of passion and charisma always at hand . A true Floridian and family man, Don was a resident of Plantation for 57 years where he raised his three children alongside Sally amid the palms and under the sun. In his later life, he traveled around the world always looking for fun, good food and luxury along the way. A kind and generous man, his birthday cards were always anticipated by all. As an avid sports fan, he cheered boisterously for the Florida Gators and loved a round of golf. He was a spoofer, with pranks and jokes always at the ready, never taking life too seriously.
Don is survived by his wife, Sally, in addition to his three children, Betsy Serzen (Scott), Jay McMillen (Michele) and Matthew McMillen (Yolanda) as well as five fabulous grand children.
Friends are invited by the family to celebrate his life on Saturday, October 20 at 1 pm. A party complete with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will take place at the Fort Lauderdale Country Club. Sally asks you wear any color but black, as we join together to rejoice in a beautiful life well lived. Donations are requested to be made to the charity of your choice in his memory.
