My dear mother, Edith Desmarais, sadly passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 7,2022, at the age of 81, in Florida Medical Center in Lauderdale Lakes, FL, from complications of a stroke.

Edith was born and raised in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and was one of three children to Merceline Napoleon. In Haiti, she met and married Julien; together they shared two children. 

In her teen years, Edith joined the Girl Scouts. They taught discipline, sewing, respect and survival skills. Edith used those skills to earn a living providing for her family. Edith became a seamstress, where she enjoyed creating beautiful outfits for her kids, family and friends. 

Edith lived a full life as a homemaker, wife, and a dedicated mother who treasured her children, Garry and Marjory. She was the proud grandmother of Bryan (wife Sarah) and Manoushka. Edith especially loved her role as “Nana” to Alexis, Alexzander, Akyra, Kayson, Mya and Leah. 

Edith is preceded in death by her husband Julien in December 2002, and her son Garry in July 2021. 

She is survived by her brother Emmanuel, niece Emmanuella, nephew Zackary, and all the immediate family and friends touched by Edith in her own special way. 

Friends and family will be received Sunday, August 28th, 12:30-2:00 pm, at T. M. Ralph Funeral Home Sawgrass/Weston.  Reception will follow in the home of Marjory Gilles, 3691 NW 95th Terrace, Unit 1202, Sunrise, FL 33351.

Donations may be made in Edith’s loving memory to her favorite charity “St Jude Children's Research Hospital” www.stjude.org.
