Edna Rambarran, a loving mother and wife, passed away on December 28, 2022, after a decade long battle with Ovarian cancer. She died peacefully at the age of 72, in her home surrounded by loved ones.Edna was married to Harry Rambarran, who predeceased her in August 2022. They were married for over four decades and were to celebrate their anniversary on December 29, 2022.Edna was one of nine children and was born on San Jose Ranch in the Rupununi District of Guyana. She was the daughter of Julia and Leonard D'Aguiar.Edna was fiercely independent and paved her own path. She worked as a translator for an international airline, secretary at an international business, homemaker and mother. Edna partnered with her husband to establish Miami Aquarium Traders, Inc. and did so while raising four children.Edna is well known for her generosity and was committed to helping the less fortunate in the interior of Guyana. Including building and furnishing Lethem Public Hospital , donating food for the poor and supplies for schools. Not only did she help the needy back home, but she was credited with helping many family members and friends to get a start in the United States. She had a close circle of longtime girlfriends, such as Joy Gibbs, Paula Lye, Megan Gonsalves and Rosie Morales.She was also very well known for her hospitality, particularly for her unmatched culinary skills and mastery of Guyanese cuisine. Edna was even instructing her children and grandchildren how to craft her recipes up until the last day of her life.Edna is survived by her children Priscilla, Richard, Ian, and Harriet. She is also survived by one elder sister, Patsy Sankar, and several half-brothers and sisters. Edna also leaves behind eight grandchildren and was thankful to have spent her last Christmas with all of them around her.We will miss Edna's charm, charisma, warmth and her unwavering love for her family.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday 9:30 AM at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church.
