My husband loves Jesus above all. He treasured and proudly proclaimed his Roman Catholic FaithWith great respect he loved to draw a comparison with himself and King David. A man deeply flawed but a man of whom God said "I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; He will carry out my every wish" Acts 13:22 Eddie as David had a great love for Gods word. He was so proud of his Italian Heritage, but he never placed Italian before American. He was staunchly conservative embracing all that the party encompasses. Solidly pro life.He supported President Trump from the beginning of his campaign, his support never wavered. I am Mrs. Edward Frank DeMicco. I Thank God for my Eddie. Trying to capture the essence of the man who was our father in a few paragraphs is a futile attempt to box in someone who refused to be boxed in by conventional and secular wisdom.  Our father, Edward DeMicco, was an extraordinary human being and a man of great faith.  He was the youngest of five children born to Rose and Antonio DeMicco, both immigrants from Italy in the early 1900s. Antonio was a coal miner in West Virginia and served in the military during World War I.  Rose was a talented seamstress.   Dad had two brothers, Mike and Tony, who served in the Army and Navy, respectively, during World War II.  His two sisters, Grace and Marguerite, supported the war effort; Grace was a long time employee of New York Telephone Company and Marguerite was a stay-at-home mother of four.  Dad enjoyed the distinct honor of being the baby of the family and was indulged accordingly. Shortly after meeting Antionette,  they decided to marry and did so in 1958.  During the years that followed, they were blessed with nine healthy children in 12 years.  Many of the children married and went on to start families of their own, and, as a result, Dad had 20 grandchildren, who affectionately knew him as Pop-Pop.  Those grandchildren are now growing families of their own and there are currently five great-grandchildren with another four on the way this year. Dad was a true Renaissance man; he graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx at the age of 16 and went on to study architecture at Columbia University.  While doing so, he started his career at Cosmopolitan Mutual Insurance Company, and also worked part-time in a photography studio, where he learned the craft of the darkroom.  Those lessons eventually led him to taking and developing an unmeasurable number of photos of his family, many of which are treasured pieces of our past.  He also loved acquiring the latest devices and bought one of the first video cameras that came to market.  So many wonderful memories have been captured as a result of Dad’s love and talent of still and video photography.  Dad’s talents were not limited to that field.  He also enjoyed painting and produced quite a number of beautiful still life pieces.  He also loved music, especially jazz and the music of the war eras.  He was a frequent visitor to Birdland as a young teenager where he spent countless hours listening and enjoying the musical stylings of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and the like.   While working as a paralegal, Dad encountered many injured workers whom he assisted with obtaining workers’ compensation benefits.  Although not a licensed attorney, and despite the fact that many of his clients spoke a limited amount of English, they would often request that he be the one to take their claim to court because they saw and felt his passion and knowledge to take on their cases as if they were his own. He had an extraordinary mind and was always eager to converse with anyone about any subject at all.  He especially loved to discuss philosophy and had a bountiful knowledge of history.  He could practically recite pages lifted from a history book about a particular city or event that might come up in conversation.   He had a vast repertoire of stories and jokes, and would effortlessly recall one that would fit the bill for almost any situation.   Dad had a deep love of Jesus and the Blessed Mother and attended Mass regularly.  He taught religious education classes for many years at St. Stephen Catholic Church.  Although he worked long hours to support his family, he always made time to share his many talents and skills.  He spent many seasons coaching football at SWBJAA in Miramar, teaching many hundreds of young men, including his sons, not just about football but life lessons in discipline, commitment and perseverance.   Following his wife Antoinette’s death, he met and married his current wife, Susan, to whom he was married for 15 years.  Dad and Susan shared a love for the simple life, among the waterways of Lake Okeechobee  in Moore Haven, Florida.  They spent many hours boating, fishing and exploring the area on bicycles and golf carts and enjoyed taking care of their pets and any lucky strays who happened their way.  Dad’s passing has left a void in our hearts and he will always be missed.  But he has left a legacy of love that will continue to grow among his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  We love you Dad.
