On Sunday, June 19, 2022, Eileen Malone Smith, loving mother and grandmother, peacefully passed away surrounded by loved ones.
Eileen was born in Hollis Queens, NY to Elizabeth (Mims) and David (Pop Pop) Malone. After graduating early from high school, she worked for Equitable Life Insurance Company. Eileen and her future husband Terry revolutionized the company's payroll process using IBM's first computer, which led to a promotion to represent Equitable at the 1968 World's Fair. She was featured twice in full page spreads in Equitable's print magazine. She excelled in her second career as a Charge Nurse in South Florida, where she formed lifelong friendships. Her expertise and innovative thinking were recognized with the distinguished award of Employee of the Year for Jackson Health System.
Eileen had a passion for cooking, and her love was on full display whether she was hosting a huge holiday meal, or bringing her famous giant eclair to a neighborhood party. Her avid love for literature, history, world religions and linguistics was evident in one engaging and humorous conversation after another. She was a fantastic conversationalist.
Eileen is survived by her children Matthew, Daniel and Deborah. She was a grandmother of 5: Parker, Josephine (Josie), Abigail, Nolan and Caylan - and loved them all deeply.
The warmth of Eileen's smile, wit, sharp intellect and laugh will be greatly missed by all.
